As the President of Cloud & Smart Industries Group, Dowson Tong leads Tencent’s efforts to serve industries pursuing digital transformation. He is responsible for the company’s cloud business and enterprise-facing services, and co-lead Tencent’s social advertising business. Dowson serves as the chairman of the board for Tencent Music Entertainment Group. Dowson has served as the president of Social Network Group (SNG), and was responsible for the development strategy of QQ communication, social networking platforms, value-added services, and open platforms. Before joining Tencent, Dowson worked at Sendmail Inc., where he led the development of operator-scale email and messaging systems. He also worked at Oracle, where he managed the development and testing of its servers and applications. Dowson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
