ZHANG XU

Vice Minister of Ministry of Culture and Tourism of The People’s Republic of China
Zhang Xu has been Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism of People’s Republic of China and Member of the Ministry’s CPC Committee since March 2018. He joined the Ministry of Culture in July 1983, initially worked for the Department of Society and Culture as Deputy Editorin-chief of Public Culture. He successively served the Department as Editor-in-chief of Culture Monthly, Deputy Director-General, Deputy Director-General in Hebei Provincial Government (temporary), DirectorGeneral, and Director-General of Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage. In June 2009, Mr. Zhang was appointed as Director of Central Academy of Cultural Administration and concurrently Deputy Secretary of the Academy’s CPC Committee in May 2013. He became DirectorGeneral of Department of General Administration of Ministry of Culture in February 2017 and concurrently Vice Minister and Member of the Ministry’s CPC Committee in June 2017 and finished his DirectorGeneral term in July 2017. Mr. Zhang is a graduate from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of Beijing Normal University. He earned his Master Degree from The Central Party School and holds researcher qualification.
