Chua Choon Hwa has been appointed as the Deputy Secretary General (Tourism), Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) in February 2025. As the Deputy Secretary General, he holds several positions pertaining to the local tourism industry as follows: 1. Board of Directors, Tourism Malaysia 2. Chairman of the National Standard Committee for Tourism and Culture (NSC 20) 3. Member of the Disciplinary Committee/ Member of the Disciplinary Appeal Committee under the Statutory Bodies (Discipline & Surcharge) Act 2000 [Act 605] Tourism Malaysia 4. Board of Directors, Lembaga Pembangunan Tioman 5. Board of Directors, Lembaga Perbadanan Bukit Bendera Pulau Pinang He graduated from University Malaya in 1996 with a B.A (Hons) in Social Administration. He joined the Malaysian civil service in 1996 as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer. He was then assigned to the Ministry of Defence as an Assistant Secretary in the Finance Division.He received his Masters in Policy Science from Japan's National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies in 2001.
