Liu Xin is a senior host at China Global Television Network (CGTN), the English arm of China Central Television (CCTV). She joined CCTV’s English language service in 1997 and for over a decade, she has been one of the channel’s signature anchors. In 2011, she was posted to Geneva, Switzerland, to set up CCTV’s Geneva Bureau and served as bureau chief for nearly six years. She is currently the host of The Point with Liu Xin, CGTN’s weeknight opinion program .
Liu Xin covered a wide variety of important multilateral diplomacy stories including the US-China trade war and Iran nuclear talks, with interviewees such as foreign dignitaries, officials and well-known figures. In May 2019, she had a live TV debate with US Fox Business’ host Trish Regan, which hit international headlines. She has won numerous awards including twice CCTV’s Top 10 Anchor of the Year award. She was nominated for Best Current Affairs Presenter by the Asian TV Awards in 2018.
Liu Xin graduated from Nanjing University. She was the first Chinese student to win The English-Speaking Union Public Speaking Competition. She speaks excellent English while being fluent in French and conversational in Turkish.
