Song Rui

Director of the Tourism Research Center, Chinese Academy Of Social Science

Song Rui is a holder of doctorate degree in Industrial Economics and post doctor Humanities and Geography, and currently presides as Director of the Tourism Research Center and Research Fellow of the National Academy of Economic Strategy of Chinese Academy of Social Science (CASS). With extensive research experience in tourism industry related topics, the research team has completed an array of studies ranging from tourism industry policies, local tourism development to sustainable tourism and leisure development under her leadership.

Prior to that, Dr. Song has been Editor-in-chief of Tourism Green Book of China for thirteen years, Editor-in-chief of Leisure Green Book of China for five years, Managing Editor of Tourism Diplomacy Journal, and advisors at the National Development Bank and China National Tourism Administration (CNTA). She has overseen a number of research projects commissioned by the National Foundation of Social Sciences, CASS and CNTA; and participated as deputy head in over twenty commissioned researches funded by the General Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, CNTA, the Asian Development Bank and the World Wildlife Fund.

Dr. Song was also a visiting scholar in Gothenberg University of Sweden and Penn State University of the United States previously. She has published numerous articles in journals such as Urban Problems, China Soft Science Magazine, Tourism Tribune, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, as well as various books and translation works.
