Executive Director, Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office
Jens Thraenhart was appointed by the tourism ministries of Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Yunnan and Guangxi Provinces of China as Executive Director of Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office (MTCO). MTCO is an inter-governmental body promoting the Mekong region as a single tourism destination, and fostering responsible tourism development in the Greater Mekong Subregion. In his tenure, he digitized the organization, introduced new programs and initiatives to drive engagement with industry stakeholders, and was recognized with three prestigious awards for innovation and design for the new website MekongTourism.org.
Mr. Thraenhart has provided consultancy services for many global organizations including World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), European Travel Commission, Tourism Vancouver, Tourism Whistler, Banff Lake Louise Tourism, Travel Alberta, Tourism Malaysia, Atout France and Australian Tourism Data Warehouse, as well as corporations such as Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Fiesta Americana Hotels & Resorts Mexico, Prestige Cruise Holdings (now Norwegian Cruise Lines), Swire Hotels, Dusit International and Shinta Mani Hotel Cambodia.
Mr. Thraenhart graduated from Cornell University with a Master of Management in Hospitality.
