Cathy Chu

Commissioner for Tourism, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government

Cathy Chu assumed the position of Commissioner for Tourism of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in December 2014. She is responsible for formulating policy and strategy on tourism development, and planning and overseeing the implementation of tourism projects. Ms. Chu had served in various government bureaux and departments, and was responsible for education and manpower, health and welfare, city administration, trade and security policies.

Before taking up the current position, Ms. Chu was the Director, Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Beijing from July 2012 to December 2014. Her key responsibilities were to act as a link between the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the ministries of the Central People’s Government, promote economic and trade relations between Hong Kong and the Mainland, as well as provide assistance and liaison to Hong Kong people in the Mainland.
