As the official partner of the 2018 EU-China Tourism Year, the Global Tourism Economy Forum (“GTEF” or “the Forum”) will showcase the European Union as the Official Partner Region in its 2018 edition. To further exploit and strengthen tourism economy cooperation between China and Europe, GTEF continues to promote its innovative and pragmatic platform to major European tourism leaders and stakeholders.
(June 8-9 2018, Andermatt, Switzerland ) Ms. Pansy Ho, GTEF’s Vice Chairman and Secretary-General, Mr. Jason Wang, GTEF’s Chief Operating Officer recently participated in the Sino-European Entrepreneurs Summit (“SEES”) held in Andermatt, Switzerland. SEES is a Sino--European premier business platform organized by the Sino-International Entrepreneurs Federation annually to facilitate partnerships between leading Chinese entrepreneurs and their counterparts in key economic regions of the world.
This year, Ms. Pansy Ho represented GTEF as a “Select Participant” among 18 other speakers gathered in Andermatt, and exchanged views on subject matters covering the “One Belt One Road” initiative, Innovation Cooperation and sustainable development between China and Europe. Together with Ms. Pansy Ho, Mr. Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of UNWTO, Mr. Istvan Ujhelyi, Member of the European Parliament and Chairman of Tourism Task Force, Mr. Konrad Mizzi, Minister of Tourism of Malta, Mr.Simon Bosshart, the Director of Global Accounts and the Director for Asia Pacific for Switzerland Tourism, had a remarkable dialogue on joining forces to develop the global tourism industry under the “One Belt One Road” initiative.
Furthermore, GTEF participated in the 63rd European Commission Meeting held in Prague, The Czech Republic from 11 to13 June. The Meeting was organized by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) with the presence of high-level government representative, private sector tourism stakeholders and tourism academic scholars. Mr. Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of UNWTO hosted the meeting and stressed the importance of tourism and technology in creating a better future. “Together we can set a vision that considers tourism a policy priority, a knowledge creator and innovator, and a sector of maximum value for all”, said Mr. Pololikashvili.
In the Meeting, Mr. Wang, representing GTEF, took the opportunity to present GTEF 2018’s theme of “Strategic Partnership in a New Era, Rising Momentum for a Shared Future” to all the participants. The European Member States expressed their support for GTEF to Mr. Wang in their individual meetings, and acknowledged GTEF’s globally recognized role as an advanced tourism platform that brings together decision makers and leaders of the global tourism industry.
