Wang Qinmin was elected as Chairman of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and Chairman of All-China General Chamber of Industry and Commerce in December 2012, and then elected as Vice Chairman of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference in March 2013. He was previously a Standing Committee member and Deputy Secretary General of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference between 2008 and 2012. From 1999 till 2007, he served for Fujian Province and held the positions as Vice Chairman of Provincial People’s Political Consultative Conference of Fujian Province, Director General of Department of Science and Technology of Fujian Province and Vice Chairman of Association for Science and Technology of Fujian Province.
A specialist in earth science, Mr. Wang was formerly Vice Principal and Head of Earth Information Science and Technology Research Institute of Fuzhou University. Between 1990 and 1999, he was Senior Researcher at the Japanese Earth Science Comprehensive Research Institute and Senior Researcher for Department of Earth Information System of Satellite Imagery and Mapping Co. Ltd. in Japan. He was also appointed as Visiting Researcher of The State Key Laboratory of Resources and Environment Information System in 1994. Mr. Wang was inducted as Academician of the International Eurasia Academy of Science in 1999.
Mr. Wang was graduated from Department of Geology and Mineral Resources of Fuzhou University and pursued advanced studies at Department of the New Global Tectonics (Plate Tectonics) of Imperial College London in the United Kingdom.
